Lufthansa ground staff went on strike on Wednesday, February 7th.

Nuremberg Airport is also affected by the work stoppage.

Nuremberg – After the Deutsche Bahn strikes, air traffic in Germany is now also affected by work stoppages.

At least as far as Lufthansa is concerned.

The German airline's ground staff are stopping their work following a call from the Verdi association in order to fight, among other things, for an increase in tariffs.

The strikes have been going on since four o'clock today, Wednesday, February 7th.

In Bavaria itself, in addition to Munich Airport, Nuremberg Airport is also affected.

When asked by

, press spokesman Christian Albrecht explains that there is no ground staff from Lufthansa itself, but four flights land or take off from and to Frankfurt.

Flights to and from Frankfurt: Eight connections at Nuremberg Airport canceled

Throughout the day, these flights usually serve as a connection to Frankfurt Airport to get to other international destinations.

Lufthansa passengers were informed in advance by the airline itself, but information about the strike is still available on the Nuremberg Airport website.

In a press release, Verdi's negotiator explains the exact background to the work stoppages.

“The employees at Lufthansa already have around 10 percent less in their pockets than they did three years ago.

Despite record profits, this situation is set to get worse with employers’ offers,” says Marvin Reschinsky.

“This strike would be unnecessary if Lufthansa were to grant ground employees the same increases as other employee groups in the group.

However, there was no willingness to do this at the negotiating table.”

Verdi calls for a strike: next round of negotiations on February 12th in Frankfurt

The next round of negotiations is planned for February 12th in Frankfurt am Main.

According to the union, if Lufthansa and Verdi do not agree on this date, the employees are prepared to stop working again.
