The Weidachklause in the center of Peiting becomes refugee accommodation.

The mayor and representatives of the district office were now available to answer questions from the neighbors.

Peiting

– Around 40 neighbors found out about the planned new refugee accommodation in the Weidachklause at the Gasthof Buchberger on Monday evening.

Bernhard Pössinger from the district office immediately said that there are no major blue light operations in connection with accommodation in the district.

It is still understandable that the neighbors have concerns and questions, said Mayor Peter Ostenrieder.

We want to talk about these objectively.

How many refugees should move in and when?

A total of 25 people will be accommodated in the Weidachklause.

The first should move in in March, said Pössinger.

Because it has proven successful, a mixed concept is being used: individuals, families and mothers with children should move in.

And “all nations and faiths.”

The rental period is set for three years.

What is the condition of the building structure?

The substance is good and the building is currently being renovated.

“The windows will be replaced and a new heating system will be installed,” says Pössinger.

A mold problem that neighbors reported was not found, but we will keep an eye on it and provide information about ventilation.

There will be smoke detectors, but no fire alarm system.

There is enough space in the house for 25 people.

Seven square meters are required per refugee, although the regulation is currently suspended, said Pössinger.

You don't want to exhaust it anyway.

In the Weidachklause there would be around 16 square meters for each refugee.

Refugee accommodation in the Weidachklause in Peiting: Who looks after the refugees?

More windows and doors will be installed – is this not necessary?

Because it does not involve a change to the facade under building law, no building application is necessary, says Ostenrieder.

The neighbor was annoyed that many people would be able to look into her bathroom and kitchen in the future.

Are the sanitary facilities sufficient or will an additional container be set up?

There will be a kitchen and bathroom on each of the three floors.

That's enough.

Will there be security?

There is only a security service in accommodation for over 50 people.

Experience shows that this is not necessary, according to Pössinger and Helmut Hartl from the district office.

Who looks after the refugees?

Employees of the district office will come to the Weidachklause once a week, said Pössinger.

There is also the circle of helpers, which Gabriele Sanktjohanser and Sabine Haser briefly introduced.

Who explains waste separation?

A neighbor said that she had recently seen tons of bottles and a buggy hanging on the fence on Seestrasse and feared something similar for the Weidachklause.

Mayor Ostenrieder emphasized that what was described could be seen everywhere.

There are also enough Peitingers who don't keep the place clean.

It is therefore not possible to generalize.

Refugee accommodation in the Weidachklause in Peiting: Questions about the parking and pool situation

Will parking spaces be provided?

Residents feared that the street would be blocked by parking and were annoyed by tradesmen who would park incorrectly.

Five parking spaces are to be created on the property, and another is planned between Weidachklause and the neighboring house.

The direct neighbor doubted that there was enough space there.

It will be measured, says Hartl.

However, the parking spaces are primarily used by district office employees or “a few Ukrainians” – after all, most refugees don’t have a car.

There will also be space for bicycles, strollers and garbage cans.

Could the situation at Gumpen escalate?

Residents said that people would no longer dare go to the pools in the evenings.

They reported on people - not refugees, as they emphasized - who consumed alcohol there and threatened others.

And they feared that the situation with the refugees could escalate.

Sanktjohanser didn't believe that.

Because many refugees cannot swim, they would probably not let their children play in the pool.

She can say from experience that adults also avoid places where they are afraid of meeting people who are not well disposed towards them.

The problem surrounding the Gumpen is known and has been bothering the local council for decades, said Ostenrieder.

And Pössinger said that you can't tell anyone where you can stay.

What can the neighbors do?

The refugees receive initial equipment, said Pössinger.

His tip for the neighbors: “It will be difficult if you take a defensive stance.

Approach people proactively.” The group of helpers wants to invite people to a meeting so that the new neighbors can get to know each other.

How are the refugee numbers developing and are further accommodations planned in Peiting?

At the moment the numbers are stagnating; the so-called “winter dip” is being observed, says Pössinger.

But there will still be many refugees.

No further accommodation is currently planned in Peiting.
