Marriage is experiencing an upswing in Germany, but one city is outperforming them all.

A Franconian city boasts the lowest divorce rate.

Würzburg – In recent years, the institution of marriage has become more popular again in Germany.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, the number of divorces has fallen steadily in recent years.

In 2022, around 137,400 marriages were dissolved in Germany, which is around 5,400 fewer marriages than in the previous year.

The year 2019 has been the only exception to this trend since 2012.

Since 2012, there has been an increase in marriages nationwide.

The online portal

“betrugstest.com”

conducted a study to determine which German cities have the most stable marriages.

To do this, the platform examined one hundred German cities for marriages and divorces in 2022 and compared them with the previous year.

Divorce rates in Germany: Bavaria surprises with its extremely low rate

A total of 14,022 marriages were concluded in Bavaria in 2022.

There were only 4,756 divorces in the same year. That corresponds to a rate of 0.3 marriages that ended in divorce.

According to statistics, marriage in Bavaria is therefore the most stable.

The fewest marriages in Bavaria were divorced here in 2022:

    Specifically, this means that 112 divorces followed 744 marriages.

    Just two places behind, another Franconian city, Bamberg, shares third place with Heidelberg.

    Hamburg is at the bottom of the list.

    In 2022, 3,132 marriages were dissolved there, while 4,323 couples got married.

    The divorce rate was 0.72.

    In a nationwide comparison, Bavaria leads with a divorce rate of 0.3.

    Hamburg is a divorce hotspot.
