A nice dinner, a bouquet of roses or would you prefer a romantic trip?

Anyone who chooses the latter will definitely find what they are looking for in Germany.

1 / 10Venice is one of the most popular city trip destinations for couples - but if you can't plan a trip to Italy at such short notice, you can also find what you're looking for in Germany.

In the Bavarian town of Bamberg there is a former fishing settlement that is affectionately known as “Little Venice”.

Cute half-timbered buildings from the Middle Ages stand close together - and there are docks with small boats in the front gardens.

The row of houses can be seen from the opposite bank of the Regnitz.

2 / 10A trip to a picturesque small town is also a good idea for Valentine's Day.

Tangermünde in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt is definitely one of them: the Hanseatic and imperial city offers beautiful monuments that invite you to marvel.

An eye-catcher, for example, is the late Gothic town hall or the Neustädter Tor (see photo) with five painted plaster panels above the pointed arch.

3 / 10With its location on a steep cliff and its neo-Gothic style, Lichtenstein Castle looks like it has come out of a fairy tale - in fact, it was once the location for the fairy tale film Sleeping Beauty.

The castle is closed in February, but romantics can go on a winter hike in the area and get a great view of the complex from there.

One example is the premium hiking trail “hochträumet”, which leads along many viewpoints.

4 / 10The fishing village of Gothmund in the Lübeck district of St. Gertrud is also a perfect excursion destination. The traditional thatched roof houses were a popular motif for artists looking for suitable landscape motifs, especially at the end of the 19th century.

Today some of them are listed buildings and can be viewed on a romantic circular route.

5 / 10Fancy a romantic river cruise?

This is possible, for example, in the Spreewald, where couples can go on a boat trip wrapped in a cozy blanket and provided with hot drinks, even in winter.

There are also numerous wellness options in the area, such as thermal baths, saunas and salt caves.

6 / 10 The spring blossoms on the flower island of Mainau in Lake Constance are most colorful between March and May - but by Valentine's Day in February, day trippers can usually see snowdrops, winter aconites or crocuses.

A relaxing tour around the island is a great way to switch off from everyday life and enjoy time together.

7 / 10The Moselle loop near the wine town of Bremm is a real eye-catcher for day trippers.

The Calmont ridge offers the best views and can be reached via a mountain path or via ferrata.

Couples who want something a little more comfortable can also visit the wine town of Bremm, which is located directly on the Moselle loop, and look at the historic half-timbered houses and picturesque streets there.

8 / 10The Love Bank Trail in the Harz Mountains is perfect for a trip on Valentine's Day.

It leads around the Bocksberg and offers a great view of the Hahnenklee.

On the route, lovers will also pass 25 individual love banks, thematically starting with the first date and ending with the diamond wedding.

9 / 10It gets mystical and romantic in the Saalfeld fairy grottoes in a former mine in Thuringia.

They even made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the “most colorful show grottos in the world”.

10 / 10The Philosphenweg in Heidelberg is one of the most popular walking paths among tourists from all over the world.

It owes its name to Heidelberg students, who enthusiastically used it for romantic walks as early as the 18th century.

On the route, excursionists have a wonderful view of the old town, the Old Bridge, the river and the Königsstuhl, the university town's local mountain.
