Further details are known after the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
According to Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc, 34 people have now been arrested.

Update from February 6th, 1:05 p.m.:
One of the three injured civilians died in hospital in the terrorist attack against the Istanbul courthouse in the Caglayan district.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this during a speech in the city of Kahramanmaras on the occasion of the first anniversary of the severe earthquake on February 6, 2023.
First report from February 6th:
Istanbul – An attack against an Istanbul courthouse is reported in Turkey.
According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, two people launched an armed attack in front of the main court building in Caglayan shortly before 12 noon (local time) on Tuesday (February 6).
The interior minister said on the short message service X (formerly Twitter) that the attack was aimed at a police checkpoint in front of entrance C of the building.
Terrorist attack in Turkey: Police “neutralize” two people
The two people suspected of being responsible - a man and a woman - had been neutralized, Yerlikaya said in his statement, adding that six people, including three police officers, were injured.
“I would like to thank our heroic police officers,” he wrote and spoke of a “terrorist attack”.
The woman and man were later identified as members of the DHKP-C, an underground Marxist-Leninist organization.
The DHKP-C is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the USA and the EU.
Videos had previously emerged of civilians lying in panic on the floor of the courthouse and people fleeing through the doors into the building.
Footage of the attack later appeared in Turkish media.
In the videos captured by security cameras, a man can be seen trying to throw something in his hand into the crowd while fleeing the police checkpoint.
A few seconds later he is shot and falls to the ground.
The woman then pulls out her pistol and shoots at least one police officer in the camera's field of view, who also opens fire.
The woman is hit and falls to the ground.
Attack in Istanbul: Police probably thwarted “massacre” of civilians
The Turkish broadcaster
CNN Türk
reported that the aim was most likely to gain access to the courthouse in order to carry out a “massacre” of civilians there.
A bag that the attacker dropped is now also being examined.
Media suspect that it could be an explosive device.
According to experts on Turkish television, the bag probably also contained DHKP-C flags that were supposed to be hung in the courthouse.

The attack brings back memories of the case of public prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz.
In 2015, DHKP-C members also broke into his office in the courthouse, took him hostage and posed with the terrorist group's flags.
During the police rescue operation, the prosecutor was fatally injured by the attackers.
