The 23rd Montgolfiade at Tegernsee has been completed and the organizers are completely satisfied.

The winners of the photo competition have also been announced.

Tegernsee Valley - The start couldn't have been nicer: right from the start, the Tegernsee Valley Montgolfiade - now the 23rd edition of the hot air balloon meeting - was blessed with fantastic weather for four days.

The pilots were able to advance four times out of the eight days of the event.

A very good success rate, as Peter Rie, event manager at Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT), believes: “We are completely satisfied.” Thanks to the good conditions, the visitors had great photo opportunities.

This year there was a particularly strong response to the photo competition that our newspaper organized together with the TTT.

Sabine Sappl from Waakirchen calls her photograph an “amusing snapshot”: the almost 50 meter high hot air balloon in the shape of a Coca-Cola bottle is just floating past the lion monument.

Apparently, Sappl writes, the lion is not only looking towards Sendling, but sometimes even as far as America.

The woman from Waakirch took the photo from her balcony.

Heike Sonnenstatter also took advantage of the bright blue sky on the first Sunday of the Montgolfiade to go “balloon hunting” with her camera on the Wiessee lake promenade.

“The balloonists were all super nice,” enthuses the woman from Schliersee.

For the most part, the pilots let the visitors get very close to their giant aircraft, so that Sonnenstatter was able to experience the construction and righting of the balloons up close before takeoff and capture them in pictures.

The picture that Sebastian Ulmer sent us seems almost surreal.

The Rottacher photographed the spectacular balloon glow at Sonnenbichl in Bad Wiessee from above with a drone.

The balloons are shown here in all their glory, and it is very clear that many visitors did not want to miss this spectacle on site.

The photographer himself also speaks of “the highlight of the entire Montgolfiade”.

The balloon glow attracted around 1,500 visitors.

Nevertheless, according to Rie, the days when the Montgolfiade launched with a huge supporting program and thus attracted thousands of visitors to Lake Tegernsee are over.

For a few years now, the TTT has been focusing on balloon sports and the teams instead.

“We are on the right track,” says the long-time organizer with conviction.

The balloon teams - this year there were 25 in number - would come with the entire family and several generations.

“This means we can secure the next generation.” The passenger trips also make it possible to generate overnight guests for the valley.

Media interest in the ballooners' meeting, which has now lasted a week, is also unbroken, reports Rie.

The Montgolfiade has made it into the press again across Germany: “The image promotion for Tegernsee is still there.” Rie is convinced: “The topic of ballooning is simply emotionally charged - that excites everyone.”
