STRASBOURG - "Reconquete!", the French ultra-right party founded by
Eric Zemmour
and of which Marion Marechal-Le Pen is vice-president, joins the Conservatives and Reformists (Ecr) group.
This was announced in Strasbourg, in a press point, by the co-president of the Ecr group
Nicola Procaccini
, Marion Marechal and
Nicolas Bay
, MEP from Reconquete!, who until now was active among those not registered in the European Chamber.
Viktor Orban next to join the Conservatives?
"No, in the meantime
Fidesz has never asked to join the Ecr
. I must say we work well with the Fidesz parliamentarians but I think
we will talk about it after the elections
. To date there is no official request for membership".
The co-president of the Ecr group Nicola Procaccini said this at the press point where the entry of Reconquete! was announced.
"With ECR we can be the third force in the European Parliament and beat Macron and his Renew Europe group. Thus we could reduce the influence of the liberals and impose the influence of the conservative right and change the political line of the coalition."
Commented
Marion Marechal.
"There are no differences on Ukraine between us and the rest of the ECR delegation. We expressed clear positions against the Russian attack on Ukraine and in the European Parliament we voted in favor of financial aid to Ukraine and the increase of European industrial capacities to support it", explained Nicolas Bay, MEP for Reconquete!
passed to the Ecr group by non-members.
"The Conservative group is our natural family, for the battle against
illegal immigration
, for defending the identity of Europe, for defending a balance between ecology and economic need and national sovereignty, but also for fighting against
LGBT and woke
propaganda
,” Marechal said.
"We are very happy to work with her party, the Italian Prime Minister Meloni - who is president of the ERC party at European level - wants to fight against illegal immigration and defend the common borders of Europe and we are with her for these battles" , he added.
The co-president of the Ecr group in the European Parliament
Nicola Procaccini
declared that "in the Identity and Democracy group - of which the League is part - there are several delegations with which we work well, but with other delegations it is difficult to find points in common like Afd ".
"Even with Renew Europe there are delegations with which we collaborate very well and today in the debate on farmers those who spoke on behalf of Renew used the same words as us and theirs is a different position from the French delegation of Macron's party", said the MEP from the Brothers of Italy.
