About two weeks ago, the Chief of Staff sent a scathing letter to the State Comptroller, in which he resented the start of the investigation into the functioning of the IDF during the fighting.
"The audit in the planned format during the fighting will divert the attention of the commanders from the fighting, will harm the operational investigative ability and its quality and will not allow the necessary lessons to be learned in order to achieve the goals of the war," Halevi wrote.
Engelman replied to him: "After over 100 days of combat in which the IDF moved to different stages of combat, as stated by IDF officials, the serious failures that led to the events of October 7 require a deep and thorough examination."
