Telephone is “dead”, and has been since November: After similar cases in the communities of Lengdorf, Finsing and Walpertskirchen (we reported), a family from Grafing, a suburb in the southern area of the community of Fraunberg, also contacted our newspaper.

The analog connection there no longer works, due to a defective copper cable nearby.

Fraunberg - After the family didn't achieve much through their own attempts at Telekom, they contacted the local newspaper.

According to inquiries from the telecommunications company's press and specialist offices, the repair work should finally begin this Wednesday.

It was a long story of suffering for the family (name known to the editor), combined with a lot of frustration.

“We first tried,” reports the daughter-in-law of an older couple who also lives in the area, “to report this damage via the well-known Telekom hotline and find out a possible date for repairs.

But again and again we were given a time, but nothing happened.

It was a grueling timed game that gnawed at our nerves,” she reports.

In addition, an accident occurred in the affected family's household during this waiting phase.

The emergency services could only be called because relatives lived in the next house, reports the daughter-in-law.

Luckily their digital connection worked.

Finally, after countless attempts via the hotline, the niece of the couple in question made her way to the Telekom shop in Freising to describe the unfortunate situation.

The employee tried to call another part of the company in order to possibly get competent information from them.

What the niece heard shocked her deeply: “The man was talking to a woman, but had forgotten to turn off the loudspeaker.

And so I heard the voice at the end of the line literally say, 'We always give a date just to get rid of the customers.'" At least the employee helped the family by switching their connection to a prepaid Cell phone redirected - so at least we could make calls again.

Now the family had enough and informed the local newspaper.

When asked, the administration of the municipality of Fraunberg didn't know anything; they hadn't heard anything about this case of damage or anything similar.

In response to a written request to Telekom, the response was that the matter was “being examined by the responsible department.”

The press office also expressed its regret that the “interference process” had not yet been completed and asked the family to apologize.

Six days later, an employee of Deutsche Telekom Technik GmbH from its southern branch in Landshut contacted us.

He reported to our newspaper that “due to weather-related delays,” a subcontractor could only now begin the necessary earthworks to repair the damaged copper cable that had probably led to the failure of the telephone connection in Grafing.

And another day later there was even written information that “the error will be worked on at the beginning of calendar week six”.

When Telekom asked again to give a binding commitment to the repairs by the time of going to press, the answer came late on Tuesday afternoon that the work should take place this Wednesday.

Then the largest German telephone company will have finally repaired a connection that has been broken for four months.
