The Lyon branch of the Anti-Narcotics Office (Ofast) made two significant seizures in December and January.
At the end of 2023, its investigators arrested two people from the Rhône-Alpes region suspected of being part of a major drug import network from Spain.
During this first operation, 719 kilos of cannabis resin were discovered in a heavy goods vehicle driven by one of the two suspects.
Two arrest warrants against the driver
In the wake of these arrests, investigators continued their investigation as part of a judicial investigation opened by the specialized interregional jurisdiction (JIRS) of Lyon.
On the night of January 29 to 30, Ofast police officers witnessed a new maneuver in the Gard involving the unloading of a heavy goods vehicle onto a utility vehicle.
On site, a search of the vehicle revealed a ton of cannabis resin and 15.5 kg of cannabis herb.
The driver of the heavy goods vehicle was the subject of two arrest warrants as part of two separate judicial investigations opened in Lyon and Marseille for drug trafficking.
The two suspects arrested in December and the three in January were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.
