Willy Lang, who was deputy headmaster of the Ignaz-Taschner-Gymnasium in Dachau for almost 20 years, has died.
He was 81 years old.
He was considered the soul and heart of the school.
Dachau – At the 1993 graduation speech at the Ignaz-Taschner-Gymnasium, the two student representatives at the time transported themselves 50 years into the future and then immediately looked back on their time at the ITG.
One teacher remains particularly fondly remembered, without whom “the Taschner would almost have become an offshoot” of the neighboring Effner-Gymnasium: Willy Lang.
More than 30 years later, on January 11, 2024, Willy Lang, who was deputy headmaster of the ITG for almost 20 years, died.
He was 81 years old.
Mourning for Willy Lang, the former deputy headmaster of the Ignaz-Taschner-Gymnasium
Wilhelm Helmut Lang spent almost his entire teaching life at the Taschner-Gymnasium, teaching biology, geography and chemistry to generations of students.
He left his mark on his school, not only professionally, but above all personally.
His school's obituary states that Lang was not only an exceptionally committed teacher and deputy headmaster, but also "the soul and heart" of the ITG for many years.
Many who experienced and knew him can confirm this assessment.
Willy Lang was the heart and soul of the ITG for many years
Hedi Bäuml, current member of the school management at the ITG, describes Lang not only as an organizational talent and a conscientious teacher, but also as an open, authentic person who not only cared about his students, but also his colleagues.
He also took part in their worries and needs, was a teacher with heart and soul, and was a “role model” for Bäuml.
Born in Karlsbad in Egerland in 1942, Willy Lang came to Dachau as a child.
After graduating from high school, he studied biology, geography and chemistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich to become a high school teacher.
After completing his legal clerkship, he worked at schools in Aschaffenburg and Schrobenhausen.
WiIly Lang was always in a good mood and always made sure to impart something technical to his students.
From 1975 he taught at the Dachauer-Taschner-Gymnasium.
Just three years later he became a member of the school management and was responsible for lesson planning and substitution planning.
Even when there was a fire and short-term replacements had to be organized, Lang - almost always - got to his school classes on time.
Always in a good mood and always keen to give his students something technical to learn.
In 1987 he became deputy headteacher and remained so until his retirement in 2006.

Willy Lang lived for his school and his students, but he was also a committed athlete.
As a non-sports teacher, he went to the school's ski camp.
In his free time he rode motorcycles, scuba diving and was a horse lover.
For many years he led the KSC Attila Dachau as club chairman.
Willy Lang designed his own obituary
Willy Lang has had to give up his sport for health reasons in recent years.
In December his health deteriorated, but his sudden death came as a surprise.
Willy Lang, who wrote timetables and substitution plans for many years, had already planned for the fact that he would have to say goodbye at some point.
He designed the advertisement himself, which appeared in the
Dachauer Nachrichten
at the end of January : It says: “With one last Pfüa Gott,” I would like to say goodbye to all relatives, friends, neighbors and companions from school and sport and, above all, say thank you .”
Urn burial
The funeral service for Willy Lang, followed by an urn burial, will take place on Friday, February 9th at 3 p.m. in the Dachau Forest Cemetery.
