TSV Paunzhausen is organizing its 26th strong beer festival.

“The Pious Helene” is on the program this year.

Festival organizer Sebastian Blassl in an interview:

Paunzhausen

– The TSV Paunzhausen theater group is organizing a strong beer festival for the 26th time.

There will be a total of three performances of the play “The Pious Helene” on February 16th and 17th.

Sebastian Blassl, festival organizer at TSV Paunzhausen, reveals in an interview with the FT how the preparations are going and what visitors can expect this year.

Mr. Blassl, get the people of Paunzhausen excited about your party!

Gladly.

In addition to our food and a cozy get-together, we will be seeing a three-act play again this year, after we had two one-act plays last year.

Our Paunzhausen theater group is performing the humorous play “The Pious Helene”.

What is this play about?

The piece addresses the topic of the crisis in the Catholic Church with a wink.

A possible rededication of the local church not only heats up emotions, but also causes the village landlord, who has long since left the church, and his intimate enemy, the old pastor's cook (retired), to work together, albeit for very different reasons.

How is it chosen each year which piece will be played?

Of course it's supposed to be funny.

The director starts reading various plays in time.

This year they are Axel Steffens, Andreas Maysami and Christian Liebhardt.

Then we ask who would like to play.

We don't have the same ones every year.

Some are there almost always, but many only occasionally.

There are also some who take a break for a year.

We then see which piece best suits the available actors.

So how many male and how many female roles need to be filled, for example.

Paunzhausen and local, current topics always find their place in the pieces.

Is it like that again this year?

Yes, this usually happens during rehearsals: passages from the original piece are rewritten and names or places are changed.

Rehearsals for the strong beer festival have been taking place in Paunzhausen for almost four months

Since when has the theater team been rehearsing for the big weekend?

The first test readings start in November, followed quickly by rehearsals on the makeshift stage.

There is a break from rehearsals at Christmas.

Rehearsals take place twice a week in January and February, and the stage design is gradually created.

This is redesigned and rebuilt every year.

There are even daily rehearsals during the week of the Strong Beer Festival.

The dress rehearsal is on Thursday, February 15th.

How many club members ensure that the strong beer festival is unforgettable again?

Around 20 people work at the theater itself, and at the strong beer festival in general there are well over 100 TSV Paunzhausen club members who take care of set-up and dismantling, checkout and catering.

Speaking of catering: Strong beer is of course part of the strong beer festival.

Which one is there?

The strong beer from the Müllerbräu brewery in Pfaffenhofen that tastes good and is local.

We've had that for the last few years because we have a contact there in the club.

There are only a few tickets left for Friday

Why shouldn't citizens miss the strong beer festival?
