The President of Argentina, Javier Miley, planted a tree in the grove of nations of the Kimet Israel Foundation in Jerusalem, as a symbol of the friendship and unity between Argentina and Israel.
Millay is the first leader of one of the world's countries to participate in this important tradition in Israel since the outbreak of the war on October 7.
Millay is considered an ardent supporter of the State of Israel and has stated that he intends to move the Argentine embassy to Jerusalem.
In his election campaign he promised that his first visit abroad as president of Argentina would be to Israel - a promise that was indeed fulfilled.

"The arrival of the Argentine president strengthens us in the difficult days when terrorist organizations are attacking us from the south and the north," said KKL chairman Yifat Ovadia Loski.
"We all hope that the visit will help in the efforts to return the abductees who are held captive by the terrorist organization Hamas. We thank the president for deciding to come and plant a tree in the grove of nations of the Kimat Israel Foundation and to congratulate the transfer of the Argentine embassy to Jerusalem. Our standing here together today and planting the trees proves that the people of Israel choose revival, continuity and growth anew. The Jewish people choose life and Argentina together with us. The president's support for Israel and his courage to stand up against the opposition to the right of the State of Israel to exist and defend itself - are for us a light and an inspiration to restore peace to us and the entire region."
