WE WATCHED FOR YOU - This Wednesday, February 7, the 34-year-old host and journalist launched the new France 2 society show.

It is certainly with a little apprehension that

Hugo Clément

took his first steps in

“Our big decisions”

this Wednesday, February 7.

The 34-year-old journalist and host has, in fact, accepted the challenge launched by Thierry Ardisson and Régis Lammana-Rodat, to take control of the new France 2 society show. If the man in black has not dried up of praise for the young man, comparing him to Jean-Luc Delarue, did Hugo Clément live up to his predecessor?

To find out, we looked at his debut.

To discover

  • TV tonight: our selection of the day

Direct requires, the journalist started at 10:46 p.m. sharp.

“Very happy to see you again.

And if I'm here this evening it's because I made a big decision: to present a new social show live on France 2.

This show talks about you, it concerns you because we have all, at least once in our lives, been faced with a decision that could turn our lives upside down and we would have liked, at that moment, to be advised and well That’s good, that’s exactly the idea of “Our Big Decisions”

,” he began with a big smile.

Dressed in a black suit and a gray shirt, Hugo Clément explained, with index cards in hand, the concept of the program to viewers, sometimes looking for the right camera.

Wanting to be as close as possible to people, he then moved into the public but not for very long.

“We are going to experience moments together.

The stories of our guests are the stories of today's society, it is the France of 2024 that we want to tell, these are the debates which divide us or which bring us together

,” he declared before start the credits.

As expected, Hugo Clément received three witnesses.

Chloé, a 26-year-old nurse in an intensive care unit in a public hospital in the Paris region, is the first to take a seat in the chair of major decisions.

The young woman, visibly on edge, says she is close to burnout and wonders if she should resign.

“We will try to guide you, to support you, and I hope that when you leave here, you will feel lighter and above all that you will have made your big decision

,” commented the journalist and host.

To help him make his choice, four “experts” faced him on the set: the comedian Jérémy Ferrari, the emergency doctor Gérald Kierzek, the author and adventurer Philippe Croizon and a former liberal nurse, Charlotte Kerbrat.

Hugo Clément cuts in

Chloé had barely started to talk about her situation when Hugo Clément cut her off.

An unfortunate trend which will unfortunately be repeated throughout the show and which some Internet users have criticized on X. Certainly wanting to be considerate, the journalist sometimes even finished the nurse's sentences.

Once the problem was presented, the four “experts” each took turns to give their opinion.

Interventions far too long compared to that of Chloé.

As a true master of the place, Hugo Clément was responsible for giving everyone a voice, even spectators in the public.

In the end, all of her speakers ended up speaking at greater length than Chloé herself even though it was her who we would have liked to hear.

Cut off from his statement a few minutes earlier, Jérémy Ferrari ended up saying:

“I am going to finish what I started to say earlier”

After 36 minutes of discussion, Hugo Clément offered to discover the results of the votes of viewers whom he invited several times to vote by SMS.

60% of them answered yes to the question: Should I leave the hospital?

While Chloé's decision was long overdue, the appearance of Nikos Aliagas in a video was surprising to say the least.

“I wanted to say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the good you have done.

We are counting on you, thank you, courage, strength and all my gratitude

,” declared the TF1 host.

Hugo Clément then gave Chloé twenty seconds to make her decision.

A very short time for such a crucial choice but endless for viewers.

“It’s not easy to make a decision now

,” remarked the young woman who preferred to

“give herself time to think

. ”

“And everything will depend after this show in which direction things go

,” she concluded.

The host promised to hear from him.

The second witness, Christophe, a 77-year-old retiree and widower for eight years, is looking for love but wonders if he should register on a dating site after two unsuccessful experiences.

The subject is lighter and the interventions of Philippe Croizon;

Marc Simoncini, creator of Meetic;

Alexandre Hubin, sexologist;

and Caroline Monat, former dancer at the Moulin Rouge, sparked laughter and smiles.

A worthy successor to Jean-Luc Delarue?

For the third and final case, Hugo Clément welcomed Ludivine, a 36-year-old educator, who is hesitant to buy a smartphone for her 11-year-old son.

“A subject that interests all families

,” underlined the host and journalist himself in the same situation of having a 13-year-old stepdaughter.

Four new experts appeared on the set: neuroscientist Michel Desmurget, Renaissance MP for Loiret Caroline Janvier, journalists Baptiste des Montiers and Mélanie Taravant.

The evening was punctuated with archive images revealing our times.

On several occasions, Hugo Clément also mentioned numerous figures to support everyone's statements.

The journalist went on air at 12:20 a.m.

“Remember when you have a big decision to make, ask your country.

Good night, see you next week, same place, same time

,” he concluded. During the credits, he then went towards the witnesses to greet them.

Proof of his proximity to the French.

After this premiere, it's impossible not to make the comparison with Jean-Luc Delarue.

In “It's discussed”, he left more time for the witnesses to talk about their situation without cutting them off.

But Hugo Clément was not unworthy.

He managed to keep the rhythm, to get everyone talking - and there were lots of people!

- while keeping a big, very appreciable smile.

For the next few, perhaps we should reduce the number of witnesses to allow everyone to have time to say everything they have to say?

While waiting for the second issue scheduled for next Wednesday, the audience for the first does not bode well.

In fact, 592,000 viewers, or 6.5% audience share, followed the debut of Hugo Clément.
