With their market place carnival, the Damische are getting in the mood for the European Football Championship, which takes place in Germany in the summer.

“Footballdamisch” is the name of the party with party music, stadium fries and a live football tournament.

Good atmosphere, bad weather: It rained at the Market Square Carnival last year in 2023.

The Mashkera were still in a good mood, thanks in part to the stage show.

This year the carnival is dominated by the European Football Championship.

Holzkirchen – Apparently the football fans in Holzkirchen can no longer wait until the European Championship finally starts in their own country.

At least they're getting in the mood: last year's Ballermann party “Ballerdamisch” is being followed this year by a football-themed carnival.

“The world of football has a lot to offer, not just for fans,” emphasizes Josef Sappl, chairman of the Holzkirchner carnival club De Damischen, which invites you to the spectacle as the DFB (Damische Fußball Bazis).

Among other things, he is thinking about the sizzling stadium atmosphere, which can also be experienced on the Holzkirchner market square on Sunday, February 11th from 11:11 a.m.

There isn't a stadium there in the actual sense, but there is a so-called live football box that the Damische borrow from SV Warngau.

The oversized box made of solid wood is the arena in which six teams, including the boys' clubs Otterfing and Darching, compete against each other.

The players have their hands fixed to long poles so that they can only move sideways like table football figures.

“We would be happy if more spontaneous teams get in touch with us,” says Sappl.

There are three prizes to be won.

The fun tournament is not the only guarantee of atmosphere.

The band “Host mi” will keep the audience happy with tried and tested party music.

“We have been working with the musicians for a long time, so we know that they can respond very well to the audience,” says Sappl.

You can also see humorous interviews with former and current football stars and celebrities from the world of football on stage.

There is a bar, bratwursts, chips and a stand where chips are freshly fried.

There will probably be some beer table sets available for families with children.

At the same time as the party kicks off at the market square, the carnival procession with 15 groups, including clubs and kindergarten children, starts at the train station.

Sappl does not reveal what they will perform during the parade on Münchner Straße.

Only that they travel on foot, without large cars.

Sappl doesn't think that the football motto sets strict limits on the possibilities for dressing up in costume: "You can also dress up as a blade of grass or a bratwurst roll," he suggests.

In addition, the motto could, on the contrary, be described as low-threshold: “If the selection is not so huge, the hurdles are not so big.

Then you can just throw on a football shirt and you're done.” What does he go for himself?

“That’s a surprise.” Sappl is also surprised when it comes to the weather: “We can’t change it anyway.

But I hope for good conditions.”

Further dates

Tickets are still available for the Women's Association Carnival on Friday, February 9th in the Otterfing gymnasium (starts at 8 p.m., doors open at 7:30 p.m.).

After 2004 and 2014, a begging wedding will be celebrated in Wall again this year, specifically on Saturday, February 10th.

At 10 a.m., an indecent love affair with many unmarried children enters into marriage at the Mehringer Inn.

In Unterdarching, the begging wedding will also take place on Saturday, February 10th: at 11:11 a.m. on the agricultural property at Holzkirchner Straße 12.
