A resident complains in a letter about mobile homes and vans parked on the side of the road.

The police in Munich are aware of the complaint.

Munich – Josef-Thalhamer-Straße is located in a quiet residential area of Bogenhausen.

On Wednesday lunchtime only a few cars drive along here.

Several vans and a mobile home are parked on the slightly curved edge of the road.

“Sometimes there are a lot of them, but it doesn’t really bother me,” says a woman walking her dog.

One resident believes the situation is much more precarious.

Residents from Munich complain about parked mobile homes: “They just don’t belong there”

“It's a daily nuisance because you hardly have any alternative options,” he complained in a letter that was the subject of the Bogenhausen district committee in January.

He has already had a flat tire twice after he had to drive over the curb due to “obstructed visibility”.

“The same caravan trailers or large camper vehicles are always parked almost all year round” on Josef-Thalhamer-Straße.

The view of oncoming traffic is blocked “due to the height of the caravans parked there”.

“Passenger cars of normal height would definitely allow better visibility,” the resident’s letter says.

His conclusion: “Caravans or even minibuses simply don’t belong there, as the street is very narrow anyway.”

Police spokesman assesses the situation: “Officers regularly patrol the relevant area”

The police are aware of the complaint, explains spokesman Michael Marienwald when asked by our editorial team: “The vehicles in question are insured and registered, and are parked properly from the police point of view.” Dangerous situations would not arise from the parked mobile homes and campers.

“Vehicles are only allowed to drive slowly here if visibility is restricted.”

The owners of the parked vehicles are mostly local residents, reports Marienwald.

However, they want to keep an eye on the situation on Josef-Thalhamer-Straße.

“The contact officers from the Bogenhausen police regularly patrol the area in question and check the parking deadlines.”

Parked mobile homes cause annoyance for a resident at Westpark.

“Since caravanning has become more and more fashionable, there are always such monsters at the door, it gets really dark in my area, it kills you,” she complained in an interview with our editorial team.
