There is no reason to celebrate if the number of border police is now to be almost doubled.

It has just been shown how important the work of the border guards against the machinations of smugglers is.

A comment by Georg Anastasiadis.

What didn't you have to listen to as a supporter of temporary border controls against illegal migration: at best you were just "inhumane", at worst you were an anti-European who violated the open borders.

Some anxiously asked whether the “shoot to kill” order would come next, and a former chancellor took the “welcome culture” to the extreme by claiming that Germany’s borders could not be protected at all.

In essence, this should probably mean that whoever wants to join the German people cannot be prevented from doing so.

What utter nonsense!

The number of border police is to be almost doubled by 2028

The Bavarian border police, founded in 2018 amid loud cries across Germany, have shown that it can be done.

Due to the high and growing number of smugglers caught at Bavaria's borders, the number of border police is to be almost doubled by 2028, and even the SPD Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser felt compelled to express her resistance under the pressure of the unsustainable conditions at the country's eastern borders to give up border surveillance - with the blessing of the European Union, by the way, which has now expressly allowed its member states to extend border controls.

This is no reason to celebrate, but rather an evil that has unfortunately become unavoidable, even if the much-vaunted long traffic jams have mostly not materialized: As long as the protection of Europe's external borders remains only a pious wish and other countries in the Schengen area simply wave migrants through, German border controls remain an important instrument in the toolbox of migration policy.

The debate has only just begun about others, such as the review of the individual right to asylum demanded by the Union, which has long since become a vehicle for mass immigration that can no longer be controlled.
