The community of Benediktbeuern is planning a new daycare center on Bahnhofstrasse.
There should be space for nine groups.
Benediktbeuern – The municipality of Benediktbeuern is planning a new kindergarten building on the site of the former Miriam youth hostel of the Don Bosco sisters on Bahnhofstrasse.
At the most recent local council meeting, the committee discussed a corresponding application for a preliminary ruling.
As Mayor Anton Ortlieb explained at the meeting, the hailstorm in August at least partially destroyed the previously pursued concept of general renovation of all parts of the building on the property.
The L-shaped part of the building from the 1980s can still be renovated.
But the long part of the building from the 1950s, which leads towards the monastery, was so badly damaged by the hail that this part could only be demolished.
“It is no longer worth renovating,” said Ortlieb.
In its place, the municipality now wants to build an H-shaped new building in which space will be created for nine kindergarten groups.
Total costs are likely to amount to around six million euros
With the application for a preliminary decision, the municipality would first like to have the building law checked in principle by the district office as the approval authority.
In this context, certain questions should be clarified, such as whether the length and width of the planned new building as envisaged in an initial draft and the intended wall height of 7.50 meters would even be approved.
The local council unanimously approved the application.
The costs for the project are considerable: In an interview with our newspaper, Ortlieb “roughly estimates” the total amount to be more than six million euros and at the same time admits: “There is still room for improvement.” Construction is no longer planned to start this year.
Nevertheless, “we have to step on the gas,” emphasized the mayor.
Because he assumes that the order to create a concrete plan must be advertised on a wide scale.
Only then can the planning phase begin.
