One billion euros.
The turnover of Carnival tourism amounts to this much.
A period that has now firmly established itself among the "strong dishes" of the Italian off-season.
This is estimated by a survey by Cna Turismo e Commercio which ANSA publishes in preview.
Eight million visitors will travel for the period's initiatives, including two and a half million tourists who will spend the night away from home, in hotel and non-hotel facilities.
The one million quota should be reached by foreign tourists, attracted by the possibility of combining the vision of unique and authentic shows with visits to cities and villages of art.
On average, the overnight stays of Italian and foreign tourists attracted by the Carnival magnet will be two days per capita.
Significant - according to Cna Turismo e Commercio - the consequences for catering, food and wine and crafts.
The rich calendar of carnival events opened on 1 February with the Children's Carnival at the Venice Biennale, and it closed with the Parade of allegorical floats in Viareggio on Saturday 24 February, with an appendix exactly one month later, on Sunday 24 March, with the parade of the flowered floats in Sanremo.
Furthermore, between one extreme and the other, demonstrations in Ivrea and Cento, in Fano and Comacchio, in Putignano and Acireale, to name just a few of the many organized in our country.
