Law 11 of 2 February 2024 was published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic on 7 February, which converts the Energy Decree as amended by parliamentary passage.
For Minister Gilberto Pichetto, "now all our attention is turned to the implementation of the rules, which are capable of unlocking huge investments and changing the energy prospects of our country, in the wake of our objectives reiterated in continental and international fora".
The provision contains, among others, measures for energy security and decarbonisation such as gas and electricity release for gas-intensive and energy-intensive companies, actions for the development of renewable energy supply chains including geothermal and off-shore wind power, interventions for an informed transition without technical problems to greater protection for customers of the electricity market.
The text also accelerates reconstruction in the areas subject to the most recent floods and the earthquake last March in Umbria, as well as intervening on some territorial issues, such as the possibility of self-nominations to host the Single Repository for radioactive waste and the strengthening of the powers of the Commissioner for Purification.
The same issue of the Official Journal contains the notice of the publication on the Ministry portal of the decree which encourages the creation of Renewable Energy Communities, through the double track of the incentive tariff throughout the national territory and the non-repayable contribution aimed at initiatives in municipalities under 5000 inhabitants.
