A deal was signed by the government and doctors' groups Thursday that will give a 3.78% pay increase to some 40,000 Italian family doctors.
The national collective agreement for general medicine and continuity of care 2019-2021 has been signed, said Domenico Proietti, secretary general of the Uil-Fpl doctors union.
He said "it is an important agreement that affects about 40,000 general medicine doctors and more than 10,000 MdCA (formerly on-call doctors), which had expired six years ago".
The agreement, said Proietti, which comes after two years of work, "is an important result and provides for contractual increases of 3.78% with the relevant arrears and greater protection on maternity regulations".
