The people of Erding can look forward to a carnival final spurt lasting several days.
There is a lot on offer in the old town, including in the open air.
Erding - While the Hemadlenzn parade is the crazy highlight for Dorfen today, the people of Erding are getting ready for the final spurt of carnival.
Two highlights in the open air: the Narrenschranne on Sunday and the moss ghost activity on Shrove Tuesday.
It starts today, on Nonsense Thursday, when the Narrhalla invites you to the Rags and Bazi Ball in the Erdinger Weißbräu from 6 p.m.
DJ Boazn Boys creates the atmosphere there.
At the same location, the carnival society celebrates on Rose Monday from 7 p.m. with DJ Simon Gotz.
In between, the focus is on the young Erdingers.
You are welcome to the children's carnival in the town hall on Saturday from 1.30 p.m.
The prince couple, soloists from Narrhalla and the dance guards from SpVgg Altenerding also perform there.
You can enjoy the Narrhalla program again for free on Carnival Sunday from 1:30 p.m. on Schrannenplatz.
If the weather is hopefully nice, the carnival society is looking forward to hundreds of visitors.
You will then also experience the Punch and Judy show.
On Rose Monday, Erdingers can look forward to a children's carnival on Schrannenplatz from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a ball throwing booth, carousel, food and drink stands.
It is organized by showman Paul Diebold.
On Shrove Tuesday, from 2 p.m. onwards, the moss spirits will populate the city center again and move through the Lange Zeile with noise and noise.
This is announced by the customs group that has been causing mischief at the carnival finale since the 1980s.
Myths and legends grew up around the Erdinger Moos, which was a scary area for a long time.
There were stories of wandering flames and haunting ghosts.
Based on these traditions, Walter Schweinberger founded the Erdinger Moosgeister.
The owner of the city pharmacy on the Lange Zeile, who died in 2015, was always the head of the gruesome goings-on as the lowest moss spirit, which traditionally culminates on Shrove Tuesday.
Today the moss spirits are driving evil out of the city with drum rolls and rattling noises as well as a triple “Bes'n hui” so that the fertile season can return.
In order to avoid traffic problems like last year - back then the city center was not closed and even buses pushed through the crowds - this time the Lange Zeile will be closed to traffic on Shrove Tuesday.
On Sunday this affects the area at Schrannenplatz.
