Essonne: the N20 cut in both directions after a serious accident between two heavy goods vehicles

Both drivers were injured in the collision which occurred this Thursday, late in the afternoon, near Etréchy.


A jackknifed tanker truck and another, the cabin broken, which partly crossed the central reservation.

This Thursday, shortly before 6 p.m., a serious traffic accident involving two heavy goods vehicles left two people injured on the N20 near Étréchy.

The Essonne firefighters, the Arpajon and Étampes Smur as well as the gendarmerie are on site at the start of the evening.

For the purposes of the intervention, which includes the extrication of one of the drivers, the intervention of a helicopter to take care of him and the cleaning of the roadway after the spill of one of the loads, the traffic been interrupted in both directions.

Motorists are invited to take the diversions set up upstream and downstream of the accident by the gendarmerie.

Popular with trucks who use it to avoid the toll on the A10 motorway, the N20 is a road known to be dangerous.

“The 70 km/h targets heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes,” explained the president of the departmental council, François Durovray (LR) at the time.

The main objective is to dissuade them from using the RN 20.”

Last November, an accident between two heavy goods vehicles on the N 104 left two dead, a driver and his passenger.

Here again, a helicopter landed on the tracks to evacuate a third seriously injured victim.
