The Egling Volunteer Fire Department had to be deployed a total of 180 times in 2023.

This year they have a special year ahead of them: in July the rescue workers will celebrate their 150th anniversary.

Egling – On July 6th and 7th, the Egling Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate its 150th anniversary.

“A festival committee is already taking care of the organization,” reported club chairman Michael Förg recently at the beginning of the annual meeting in the equipment shed.

The report by Commander Markus Fleischmann demonstrated that the 59 active members are also required to perform a variety of missions.

Emergency services had to be deployed 180 times last year.

In addition to putting out fires, providing technical assistance and traffic accidents, Fleischmann particularly remembers the boat operation on the Ickinger reservoir on July 8th.

“Unfortunately we had to rescue a dead person,” the commander regretted.

However, the death of the 77-year-old from Munich remained an exception.

During other operations and first responder alerts, the fire department saved many lives thanks to its first aid.

A total of 2,692 hours were collected last year.

“That doesn’t even include youth exercises, nursing work and first responder handovers,” explained Fleischmann.

However, the first commander was not entirely satisfied with his participation in the exercise.

He was not satisfied with the extent to which members participated in the total of 37 exercises.

713.5 hours worked represents a minus value compared to previous years.

“The requirements have now increased,” stated Fleischmann.

As an example, he referred to the extinguishing of burning electric cars.

District fire inspector Robert Schmid did not spare any praise for the Eglingen fire department.

“The work has been good here because the training is also good,” he stated.

Mayor Hubert Oberhauser assured that the large community wants to maintain its seven fire departments in the long term.

“This decentralized structure is a little more expensive for us, but it’s worth it to us.”

In the greater community of Egling: 343 active firefighters and 293 missions in 2023

The town hall boss registered a total of 343 active firefighters in the seven districts who had to complete 293 missions last year.

As a thank you for this commitment, he covered the drinks bill at the meeting.

“It’s the Grandpa beer because I recently became a grandfather,” he joked.

At the end of the meeting, district fire inspector Robert Schmid honored long-time fire department members Andreas Hamberger and Alexander Kühnl (each with 40 years in the fire department) as well as Florian Förg, Thomas Hörburger, Johann Fleischmann junior, Karl Schmid and Markus Schropp (each with 25 years of service).
