There are 19 buildings in Germany that are at least 150 meters high.
Only one of them is not in Frankfurt.
Frankfurt – They are symbols of prosperity.
Of architectural masterpieces.
Of construction workers screwing together floor after floor at dizzying heights.
Where others don't dare look into the street canyon because of their fear of heights.
Skyscrapers are rather the exception in major German cities, especially compared to metropolises in the USA.
But how is a skyscraper actually defined?
It's simple: if a building is 150 meters high, it is included in the elite list of skyscrapers.

“Mainhatten”: Large density of skyscrapers in Frankfurt
On the world map, the tallest buildings are in Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Mecca and Shenzhen.
Only then will One World Trade Center be the first skyscraper from the high-rise capital of New York.
In the Manhattan district, the office towers are squeezed into a small area in a breathtaking density.
In reference to the world-famous district, the German capital of skyscrapers is also called “Mainhattan”.
18 of the 19 tallest buildings in the nation are located in Frankfurt.
The skyline of the metropolis on the Main is an absolute trademark and, alongside Frankfurt Airport, the city's biggest recognition feature among tourists.
Commerzbank Tower is the tallest skycraper in Germany
At the top of the ranking is the Commerzbank Tower in the banking district.
Until 2003, the 259 meter high building was the tallest skyscraper in Europe.
With the striking antenna, the 56-story corporate headquarters even reaches a height of 300 meters.
The Commerzbank Tower is followed by the Trade Fair Tower, which rises 256.5 meters above the ground to its top.
Because of the pyramid roof shape, the trade fair tower is often associated with the Illuminati in relevant forums.
We normal people will probably never know how truth and fantasy balance out in this claim.

Frankfurt Messeturm has its own postal code
Another interesting fact about the Messeturm: The skyscraper has its own zip code.
This only applies to three other towers in the city: the Omin Tower, the Opera Tower and the Taunus Tower.
The high-rise at Westendstrasse 1 (208.0 meters) comes in third place.
Like the Commerzbank Tower and the Messeturm, the DZ Bank headquarters was built and opened in the 1990s.
But the skyline in Frankfurt continues to grow to this day.
In 2024 alone, construction will take place in several places in Frankfurt.
Overview: These are the skycrapers in Frankfurt
The European Central Bank in the east of the city comes in 9th place with a building height of 185 meters, with the antenna on the north tower increasing the number to 201 meters.

Four of the high-rise buildings have their own postcode.
According to the city administration, these are the Messeturm (60308), the Omniturm (60312), the Opera Tower (60306) and the Taunusturm (60310), the city said.

However, one building in Frankfurt towers above all skyscrapers.
The Europaturm in the Ginnheim district reaches an impressive 337.5 meters high with its antenna.
Without the antenna, the Europa Tower is even the tallest free-standing structure in Germany - even ahead of the Berlin TV Tower, which in turn, with the antenna, is the tallest structure in Germany and comes closer to the sky than any other building in Germany.

The two remaining places in the ranking of the 20 tallest buildings in Germany are also quite close to each other.
At 162.5 meters, the Post Tower in Bonn is ranked 14th on the list of the tallest skyscrapers in Germany.
This makes the Deutsche Post AG headquarters the only skyscraper outside of Frankfurt.
The Cologne Tower, which is in 20th place and is only a few kilometers away from the Post Tower, narrowly misses the skyscraper limit with a height of 368 meters.
