Minister Sandra Pettovello signed an agreement with Cáritas for $310 million. She does so in the same week in which she eluded leaders of social organizations and, in parallel, closed another understanding with evangelical sectors.

The Minister of Human Capital,

Sandra Pettovello

, signed this Wednesday an agreement with

Cáritas Argentina for more than $310 million

for the purchase of food, amid strong demand from picketing organizations for more funds to be transferred to them.

It is the

second agreement

that Pettovello closes this week, since on Monday he had agreed in José C. Paz on a

support program with evangelical sectors

led by the organization that brings them together, Aciera, in that case, a global amount of $177.5 million .

In the case of

Cáritas

, this is a second gesture by the minister, who

did not want to negotiate with the picketing sectors

that pressure her for more resources and who last Monday called for a march to the Human Capital headquarters to protest.

This is

an approach from the Government to the Church

, after the Episcopal Conference raised the need for the funds to be transferred urgently.

“We are very happy to have signed the renewal of the snack agreement that we have had with the national State for a long time.

We will continue working alongside those suffering from the food crisis within the framework of the serious social situation that is being experienced.

We renew the effort so that no person is left without care or protection,” said Luciano Ojea Quintana, national director of Cáritas Argentina.

Throughout the country,

Cáritas responds to the specific and urgent needs of families, groups and communities

in situations of socioeconomic emergency and vulnerability, accompanied by more than 40,000 volunteers.

The organization's objectives are to manage and plan an organized, responsible and strategic diet to promote healthier habits with balanced nutrition," it was indicated.

More funds to stop protests

In the case of Empower Work, it is a universe of 1.2 million beneficiaries;

The Alimentar Card affects four million people.

For Potenciar Trabajo, which pays beneficiaries half a vital and mobile minimum wage per month ($78,000), exactly $110,993 million were allocated, while the Alimentar Card ($69,000 for a typical family with two children) received funds. for $132,347 million.

For the entire year, between both items, it is expected that they will receive $2.1 billion: $1.025 billion in the case of the Empower Work and $875,000 million for the Alimentar Card.

Together, both figures represent an equivalent of $7,147 million per day during the first 34 days of the year.

Taking into account that the official average dollar during January was $818.34, it represents an expenditure of almost $300 million only in the first full month of Javier Milei's management: exactly $297.36 million.
