The city of Grafing is investing four million euros in drinking water supply in the coming years.
This also includes the renovation of wells.
Grafing – The drinking water supply is one of the most important tasks of community services.
The city of Grafing will have to invest four million in the coming years in order to be able to guarantee this public service.
The investments will be handled by the municipal utilities.

The “Am Hochholz” water production plant once included an elevated tank and four wells.
Only two of them are currently in use.
“In addition to geological changes and rapidly changing climatic conditions, the gradually falling groundwater levels and dwindling groundwater reservoirs are a clear warning signal to increase commitment to securing and improving the supply situation,” said the city administration.
In total, the city of Grafing operates three water supply systems: in Aiterndorf, am Hochholz (Öxing) and in Elkofen.
The main supply comes from the Aiterndorf supply system, followed by the Hochholz wells and Elkofen.
For the latter, a water permit was applied for to increase groundwater extraction in order to improve the quality of supply.
All water supply systems are a uniform overall system due to a technical connection.
The city of Grafing supplies the community of Frauenneuharting with drinking water (full supply) based on a water supply contract.
In addition, there has been a special purpose agreement with the city of Ebersberg since 2019 for a supply network, especially for emergency situations.
Water permits for groundwater extraction are only granted for a limited period of time and must be reapplied for, whereby the water protection areas can then usually be redefined and the catchment areas can then be redetermined.
This process can take several years.
Therefore, municipalities usually seek a new permit two years before the extraction permit expires.
In many cases, the licensing authority issues a temporary permit.
In recent years, the city of Grafing has by no means only pushed the cost-intensive canal construction, but has also taken care of the fountain systems.
But the renovation measures were not always successful.
The construction cost estimate for the renewal of wells I to IV amounts to 2.5 million euros net.
The costs for further expansion of the infrastructure with lines, cables, data cables and well houses are estimated at an additional 1.5 million euros.
