The last increase was only two years ago, but this year the municipality of Lenggries is also adjusting the kindergarten fees - also “to avoid big jumps”.

Lenggries – The municipality of Lenggries is again increasing kindergarten and crèche fees.

The members of the main committee made the recommending decision on Monday evening with Tobias Raphelt (SPD) voting against.

The final decision will be made by the local council at its meeting in two weeks.

The deficit of the three institutions is around 1.4 million euros

The fees were last increased two years ago.

“It was already foreseeable then that we would have to continue to adjust them at regular intervals,” said Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher (FWG).

This is necessary “to avoid larger jumps”.

In fact, the municipality cannot avoid turning the fee screw again, “because the deficit is constantly developing in one direction,” said the mayor.

The wage increases for staff contribute to this, as do the increased energy prices, which lead to higher maintenance costs in the three community daycare centers.

If you look at the past few years, the deficit leveled off at around 1.3 to 1.4 million euros.

We will end up in this area again this year, said treasurer Michael Wenig.

The final figures for 2023 are not yet available.

The expenses for the three daycare centers in Lenggries and Wegscheid are around 2.7 million euros.

The largest item is personnel costs.

In 2022 they were 2.16 million euros and last year they were 2.48 million euros.

Tariff increases and additional staff requirements caused the increase, says Wenig.

Due to the state subsidy, only part of it remains with the parents

Since 2022, parents have been paying 120 euros per month for four to five hours of care time in kindergarten.

From September it will be 140 euros.

After deducting the state subsidy, only 40 euros actually remain with the parents.

It continues in 14 euro increments for each additional hour of booking time.

For example, anyone who has their child in daycare for eight to nine hours a day pays 196 euros instead of the current 168 euros.

The majority of parents have their children looked after for between four and six hours.

“We looked at comparable community and municipal facilities in the area,” said Wenig.

On average, you pay a good 136 euros for a booking time of four to five hours.

It was also important to the community to offer fees similar to those in the new kindergarten on Münchner Straße.

The Weyarn children's area is the sponsor there.

135 euros are due there for the comparable booking time.

“But there is also 8 euros in play money, which is already included in our case.”

Care in daycare centers is also becoming more expensive

In the crèche groups the fee increases from 240 to 280 euros (four to five hours).

It continues there in 28 euro increments.

There is no automatic state subsidy for parents here.

Depending on your income, you can apply for one.

The community is not making a big deal out of the increase.

“We’re just mitigating the deficit,” Wenig said.

The higher fees bring around 94,000 euros more into the municipal coffers.

The increase has been agreed with the kindergarten directors and parents' council

The adjustment has already been discussed with the kindergarten directors and the parents' council.

It is supported there, said Klaffenbacher.

Markus Ertl (FWG) also found the increase “moderate”.

The step is necessary, especially in view of the tasks that await the community from 2026 with the necessary full-day care beyond kindergarten.

Roman Haehl (Greens) could live with that too.

“Even if a municipality can morally justify a deficit in this area.” However, one should keep in mind that the higher fees are certainly an issue for parents.

“I was asked about it more than once,” said Haehl.

We have now reached an amount “that not everyone can manage easily and without problems”.

But you can get further support, said Klaffenbacher.

The kindergarten directors would also repeatedly point out the various options in discussions.
