Gelting - On Tuesday afternoon, numerous fire brigades deployed to the Gelting industrial area for a large-scale operation.

It wasn't the first time an electric car battery caught fire there.

When the sirens wailed in the northern district around 3 p.m. on Tuesday (February 6th), a car battery storage unit had already caught fire.

As a result, several fire departments responded to the SGS company premises on Traunreuter Straße.

Emergency services from the Gelting, Geretsried and Wolfratshausen fire departments, members of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district fire inspection and other helpers responded to the operation.

“Since we were alerted to a fire in the commercial area,” says fire department spokesman Stefan Kießkalt, the crowd was large.

Battery stress test failed: Building in Gelting catches fire

So-called stress tests are carried out on car batteries on the company premises.

According to Kießkalt's information, a battery test probably went wrong.

The flames spread to a building.

However, the Florians' disciples managed to put out the fire.

The car battery storage was therefore immersed in a water bath to extinguish it.

No one was injured in the incident, the spokesman reports.

As the Geretsried police explained when asked, the damage caused is estimated at 300,000 to 500,000 euros.

No one was harmed in the fire.

“There was enormous heat and smoke,” says the official.

Parts of the building were damaged and cables were also burnt.

The company is a so-called e-mobility laboratory for electromobility, where, among other things, high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles are tested.
