"But are we sure we are at the Sanremo festival?".
The sacredness of the morning press conference at the Ariston is interrupted by the irony and comedy of Teresa Mannino, who breaks into the record data displayed by the company.
"It's all so serious, because there's money and everything gets serious, but I feel out of place. We're taking ourselves too seriously."
The actress, the third co-host chosen by Amadeus, arrives to mix up the cards.
"Ama, you ruined the festival for me, I can't see it like I usually do", he says, turning to the artistic director before revealing that "in previous years it had occurred to me to do the festival, then this desire had passed and no I thought about it more. When Amadeus called me at the time it seemed strange to me, but now that I'm in the car it's a lot of fun. Being here for me is a bit of a game: being inside something I already watched as a child."
Mannino-show when she, in the valley version, helps Amadeus for the draw of tonight's singer-artist presenter pairings, wandering around the tables with a bowl full of balls.
"Ama, you like these village things, it seems like bingo. You had nothing to do, right?, you fill your days like this. But then, listen, is Annalisa pregnant or not? I don't know anything, I'm always locked in the closet and then I start doing Sanremo", she jokes.
But there is also her serious moment, when they ask her about her future.
"A prime time show on Rai1? We'll see. You have to have the idea, the things to say - explains the Sicilian actress -.
The publisher goes accordingly: in Rai there are 3 thousand posts, everything is seen as politicised. In the private networks you are freer, there is less censorship. Or self-censorship. Ever since I knew I had to do the festival I asked myself a thousand questions: but can I say this? Normally I just say what I want. And in the end I will do it, even because we are live and no one can cut me. I would immediately do Zelig again, if they did it live, like being at the theatre."
For some time the theater has become her home, "but there is no real reason, I like the direct relationship with the public, who choose months before coming to see you".
Despite herself, Mannino is also involved in the controversy of the day, the one on the hypothesis of hidden advertising during John Travolta's guest appearance.
"I like that there is attention on what happened, but we must remember that we are an American colony. This is nothing: we are subjects. Travolta arrives and does what he wants, and Amadeus doesn't even realize it, caught up in the ballets and photos of his son".
"We are settlers, we must keep quiet as we must keep quiet about everything else", she concludes.
