Production of the Maserati Levante will end from March 31st at the Mirafiori body shops. The company communicated this to the unions.
"
This is further negative news for Mirafiori, which confirms the urgency of discussing the production mission of the plant with Stellantis and the institutions.
Mirafiori represents the center of gravity of the car in Italy and as such must be valorised" comments
Luigi Paone , general secretary of Uilm Turin.
Uilm Torino recalls that of the approximately 33 Maserati cars produced per day at the Carrozzerie di Mirafiori, 25 are Levante and underlines that "this communication effectively brings Maserati production at Mirafiori to almost zero".
"The news of the conclusion of production of the Levante SUV in Mirafiori does not come unexpectedly and highlights even more the need for a new consumer product that ensures stability to the plant to which, in our opinion, must be added the anticipation of future Maserati brand cars".
Rocco Cutri, general secretary of Fim Cisl Turin,
said this .
"It's time for concreteness and planning,
elements on which the united initiative of the metalworkers was based. Disjointed actions are a mistake as unity is synonymous with collegiality and common decisions, we will discuss this with our colleagues ", he added.
Both first and second shift workers in the Mirafiori body shops are on strike.
The blue suits staged a march outside the factory.
