The new operations, training and education center for the state police was officially inaugurated today.

Pastoral advisor Angelika Zwerger meant well with the holy water when she sprinkled the entrance area of the new building.

A lot of holy water couldn't hurt during the blessing, after all, the modern police training center (PE center) on Barbarastrasse is a fairly large and robust building with a usable area of around 1,000 square meters.

Murnau - Sandro Kirchner, Bavarian State Secretary for the Interior, Sport and Integration, spoke of a special day for Murnau, for security, for the state police at the inauguration of the PE center.

In the building you can not only depict elements of operational behavior, but also discuss operational strategies and tactics.

The new building was necessary because the existing offerings were outdated and the equipment was outdated.

The PE center, a robust reinforced concrete structure with a light clinker brick facade, is located at Barbarastrasse 11 next to the Murnau police station.

The two-story building on around 2,600 square meters next to the Murnau police station has around 1,000 square meters of usable space.

The approximately 46 meter long and 18 meter wide reinforced concrete structure is spatially and functionally divided into three parts: underground there is a shooting range with a ventilation system in which, among other things, various films can be played and operational scenarios can be imitated.

On the ground floor, various application scenarios and locations can be created in a multifunctional area thanks to flexible elements, from the tavern to the living room.

A few dozen controllable loudspeakers and light installations support the imitation.

Rooms can be lit up and darkened, screams and shots can be played.

On the upper floor there are meeting and seminar rooms as well as a 160 square meter mat room for self-defense and close combat training.

Pastoral speaker Angelika Zwerger sprinkled the entrance area generously with holy water when the new building was blessed.

While Kirchner described the center as a “jewel” and “pearl,” Peter Aumann, head of the structural engineering department at the Weilheim State Building Authority, compared the center to a “little baby,” after all, a certain bond is built over the years.

But the building wasn't that easy; we weren't so lucky with some companies, said Aumann.

As building management, Aumann had to realize at the inauguration, “we are now breaking away”.

Now the state police have to use the building.

Now the building has to prove itself and it will become clear whether the center is “robust and flexible enough” for use.

Zwerger's colleague, pastoral officer Monika Winkler, was “impressed” by the million-dollar construction, which cost 14 million euros.

It is a place where you can practice and improve your own skills and where you can prepare yourself physically and mentally “for possible operational situations”.

From vehicle control to Taser use: various training scenarios were demonstrated at the inauguration of the new PE center.

After the blessing, police officers demonstrated what such preparation looks like by playing through training scenarios.

In the new vehicle hall, a man who was wanted on an arrest warrant resisted a vehicle check by the border police.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a sniffer dog became aware of something suspicious in the trunk.

Meanwhile, an apartment had been rebuilt in the multifunctional area.

Here, the Weilheim emergency platoon had to use a Taser against an aggressive gentleman who was known to have committed domestic violence.

Acts of resistance and attacks take place regularly, said Frank Hellwig.

The vice president of the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters looked from Murnau to Traunreut during his speech.

There, he said, they are currently “eagerly” awaiting such an operations center.

With the new building in Murnau, in which “professional and realistic work” is possible, “something really, really great has been achieved,” said Kirchner.
