Scary moments for a Munich resident: Behind him, a man fell into the track bed at the Quiddestraße subway stop.

But passers-by are there.

Munich – A Munich lawyer experienced frightening moments at the Quiddestraße subway stop in the east of the state capital.

He reported about it on LinkedIn, pointing out that he was “perhaps still in shock” – and if that wasn’t the case, he probably wouldn’t be able to write these lines at all.

Man falls on the tracks – Munich describes what happens afterwards

Holger Weimann from Munich will remember what happened at the Quiddestraße subway station for a long time.

“A few minutes ago a man fell onto the tracks just behind me at the Quiddestraße subway station in Munich; the next subway was about to arrive,” he begins his report.

What happened afterwards noticeably impressed the lawyer.

People from “probably five nations” worked together as a team to get the man out of the track bed as quickly as possible.

It seemed like it was rehearsed, says Weimann.

One pulled the emergency brake, the others jumped down to the tracks and hoisted the motionless man back onto the platform.

Munich residents were impressed by the moral courage and professionalism of the emergency services

The police were there immediately and dealt with the situation professionally and with a lot of empathy.

All helpers reported that “only one speaks German”.

Paramedics, the professional fire brigade and MVG employees were also quickly on site.

The emergency brake is released and the next subway starts rolling in again.

Visibly impressed, Weimann finally describes his feelings:

What I experienced and felt in these few minutes were: shock and horror, willingness to help, courage, professionalism, empathy, gratitude and pride.

Proud to live in a country where people of diverse backgrounds save lives together, where the police are not a threat but take responsibility, help quickly, empathetically and professionally, and all of this without regard for the person.”
