A chase on the A8 ends with the arrest of a suspected smuggler.
Six Syrians without identification papers were in the car, two of them in the trunk.
Piding / Siegsdorf - A suspected smuggler kept the police in suspense on Tuesday morning, February 6th.
He ignored stop signals and sped away, reports the Federal Police Inspectorate in Freilassing.
The scene took place on the A8 near Piding.
Border police officers wanted to check a Polish-registered Ford C-Max around 7:45 a.m.
But the driver had other plans.
He accelerated and tried to confuse the police by flashing multiple times and changing lanes.
He continued his risky driving maneuvers to the Traunstein/Siegsdorf junction, where he was finally stopped at 8 a.m.
Arrest of suspected smuggler: 30-year-old defends himself violently
But the arrest was not without resistance.
The 30-year-old Moldovan citizen fought back violently and slightly injured two officers.
He also sustained minor injuries that were treated in hospital.
There were six other men in the car who claimed to be Syrians.
Two of them were hidden in the trunk.
The youngest passenger was only 16 years old and was traveling without a guardian.
None of the inmates could produce documents that would justify entry into Germany.
Motorway towards Munich closed for a short time - investigations against driver
In order to ensure the safety of other road users, the A8 motorway in the direction of Munich had to be closed briefly.
The border police have arrested a suspected smuggler and six Syrians in Upper Bavaria.

The suspected smuggler and his “passengers” were handed over to the Freilassing Federal Police Station.
The driver is strongly suspected of smuggling in foreigners under dangerous and inhumane conditions.
He will also have to answer for resisting law enforcement officers and endangering road traffic.
The investigations are being conducted by the Traunstein public prosecutor's office, a special department for combating cross-border and organized crime, according to the “Traunstein model”.
The Moldovan will be brought before the judge at the Traunstein District Court on Wednesday.
