Michael Lauber had to wait five long years for his debut as head of the Hausham carnival procession.

This year the time has finally come.

The anticipation is growing - and so is the nervousness.

Hausham/Miesbach

- It would be like putting a toy boat in his hand as an experienced captain: What hasn't happened to Michael Lauber (37) in his main job as head of Schliersee Shipping, he has as a newly qualified carnival train manager Crachia 2021 actually experienced.

Because the Corona lockdown thwarted Hausham's Gaudiwurm plans, Lauber had to switch to the miniature version.

He made the best of the situation and built a creative Lego carnival parade, which he filmed and posted as a video on the Crachia Facebook page - and received many enthusiastic comments (we reported).

On Sunday, February 11th, at 1:13 p.m., Lauber can finally celebrate the long-awaited premiere as the leader of a (this time real instead of virtual) carnival procession in Hausham.

And he makes no secret of the fact that he is a bit excited.

“But it’s a nice nervousness.”

The participants on the 13 wagons and in the six foot groups should also feel this.

No wonder, since the last train was six years ago.

As reported, due to the pandemic-related restrictions in 2021 and 2022, Crachia decided not to catch up with the train in 2023, but rather to return to the usual three-year cycle in 2024.

Of course, this also includes the obligatory second trip on Shrove Tuesday through the neighboring district town of Miesbach.

The long break did not dampen the enthusiasm, reports Lauber with relief.

Even if it has already been shown that the increasingly strict requirements imposed by the car TÜV and the associated costs have become a hurdle that should not be underestimated, especially for smaller clubs.

Lauber and his seven-person organizational team also pored over regulations: for the first time in the history of the Hausham carnival procession, they developed a safety concept.

The train manager reports that it has become 17 pages in “very good cooperation” with the police, fire brigade, rescue service and district office.

At least a blueprint that can be easily transferred to the coming years.

“We just need to pull that out of the drawer in the future.”

The new train conductor was already a carnival prince

Cracchia has pulled everything else out of the drawer for its new platoon leader as the successor to the long-standing chief organizer Fritz Wirth.

Although he only joined the carnival company in his mid-20s, Lauber quickly worked his way up from stagehand at the Elferrat meeting to sound technician.

In the 2016/17 season he took on the honorable role of Prince (Michael III), before he was able to take the Ramba Zamba at Bahnhofsplatz and the carnival procession under his wing in 2019.

An opportunity that Lauber also wants to use for his own accents and ideas.

So he and his team announced an award.

A four-person jury will choose the three most beautiful floats in the Hausham carnival parade and reward their builders with prizes at the subsequent Ramba Zamba on the train station square.

“The winner receives a challenge cup,” announces Lauber.

In the meantime, he doesn't want to reveal the topics that the participants want to humorously portray with their rolling creations.

Lauber already made it clear at an information event that there are no limits to the imagination, but crude insults are not welcome.

Despite all the fun, good decency must be maintained.

The train will start in the parking lot of the former Nettomarkt on Tegernseer Straße, and from there it will go to the train station.

The train conductor explains that the previously usual onward journey via Naturfreundestraße to the Volksfestplatz is no longer possible due to the limited space available.

And he admits that he is a little happy when the move reaches its destination safely.

“That's a weight off my mind.” This year it's a real one and not just one made of (Lego) plastic.
