The interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin by American presenter Tucker Carlson, close to Donald Trump, will be broadcast this Thursday, February 8 on his website, this former television star announced Wednesday on his Instagram account.
The interview will be published at 6:00 p.m. Washington time (midnight in Paris), he said in a black and white post, on which the faces of the two men are displayed.
Tucker Carlson, a close friend of Donald Trump who was a long-time star host on the Fox News channel, recently traveled to Moscow for the first interview given by Vladimir Putin to a Western journalist since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Tucker Carlson, who has repeatedly criticized American support for Ukraine in recent months, now has a show on X (formerly Twitter).
Two American journalists still detained
The American presenter's visit, a regular relay of conspiracy theories, was extensively covered by Russian state media.
The Kremlin, however, contradicted Tucker Carlson, who boasted of being the only one who wanted to speak to the Russian president, by claiming to receive interview requests from Vladimir Putin from Western media.
But Tucker Carlson has a
“position that contrasts with that of the traditional Anglo-Saxon media
,” said Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitri Peskov.
The access Tucker Carlson enjoys contrasts with restrictions on other foreign journalists in Russia, where two American reporters, Evan Gershkovich and Alsu Kurmasheva, were arrested last year and remain detained.
