Highlights: Rachida Dati described as a “Beurette” on France 5: “Scandalous” several left-wing elected officials protest. “These racist and sexist comments have no place on a TV set,” declared La France Insoumise MP for Essonne Antoine Léaument. Social contempt mixed with racism is just missing an allusion to sofa promotion and Thréard will have ticked all the boxes, said Socialist Party leader Olivier Faure.

Invited on the set of C dans l'air at the start of the week, Le Figaro journalist Yves Thréard described the Minister of Culture as "p

A “racist” statement denounces the left.

This Monday, on the set of France 5, the editorialist of Le Figaro Yves Thréard was called upon to comment on the new position of Minister of Culture occupied by Rachida Dati.

“People identify with her because she is the little Arab girl who rose through the ranks, who succeeded.

She is very attractive,” explains the journalist.

Opposite, Caroline Roux, presenter of the show, does not notice.

These racist and sexist comments have no place on a TV set.

This Wednesday, the sequence resurfaced on X, and made Internet users and part of the left scream.

“These racist and sexist comments have no place on a TV set.

Support for Rachida Dati in the face of these insults,” declared La France Insoumise MP for Essonne Antoine Léaument on X.

“little Beurette…” it’s scandalous!

No one reacts, Mr Yves Thréard's comments are mediocre.

Mediocre comments because he allows himself to use racist and degrading misogynistic words, and silence on the set... I'm dreaming!

The leader of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure, for his part, denounced “social contempt mixed with racism”.

“All that’s missing is an allusion to the sofa promotion and Thréard will have ticked all the boxes,” he added.

Some journalists from the France Télévisions group also denounced these comments.

This is the case of Leïla Kaddour and Linh-Lan Dao.

“Sorry, Yves Thréard?

Didn't we hear that correctly?

What are you?

More of a big racist or a big successful sexist?

», reacted on X Émilie Mazoyer, host of “Décibels” on France Bleu.

The term beurette was born in the 1980s, alongside the creation of Radio beur and the Marche des beurs.

First, the expression designates women of North African origin, particularly those whose integration would be successful.

Today, the term has a degrading connotation and is one of the most searched for on pornographic sites.

Contacted Wednesday evening by Le Parisien, Rachid Dati did not respond to our requests on Thursday.
