The finance committee in Penzberg cut millions in expenditure in its second budget consultation.
The new building that was supposed to be built for all-day care at the Birkenstrasse elementary school fell victim to the austerity appeal.
The city wants to take things a little slower with the already unpopular dam renovation at Gut Hub.
Penzberg - Construction matters were the focus of the Finance Committee's second budget consultation on Tuesday. The city building department presented a list of expenses that, in its opinion, can be canceled or postponed - which the committee also approved.
In total, around 4.5 million euros were saved for 2024.
For the years up to 2027, the amount saved added up to almost 30 million euros, as committee member Wolfgang Sacher (BfP) calculated.
A new building for all-day care was planned for 100 children
The new building for all-day care at the primary school on Birkenstrasse became a sacrifice for savings.
The background to the plans, which were presented a year ago, was the legal right to full-day care, which will gradually apply from 2026.
There would be no space for this in the school building.
Almost 6.8 million euros that were reserved for this from 2024 to 2026 have now been canceled.
Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) said that full-day care could move into the containers on Birkenstrasse when the crèche there moves to the children's home on Nonnenwaldstrasse (it won't be ready until summer 2025 at the earliest).
According to him, it is questionable whether staff can even be found for full-day care.
Regarding the renovation or new construction of the Mayor Prandl School, it was said on Tuesday that the 250,000 euro planning costs will remain in the 2024 budget.
However, the 22 million euros that were reserved for implementation between 2025 and 2027 have been canceled until further notice.

Among other things, 500,000 euros were deleted and postponed on Tuesday for an expansion on the upper floor of the “Metropol”, 170,000 euros for a chair storage facility in the town hall and one million euros for the development of new commercial space in the Nonnenwald, for which, as reported, only a moor report was required must be created.
City cancels its share of the new bridge at the high school
The city's share of 250,000 euros for a new pedestrian bridge from the high school to Schloßbichlpark was also deleted.
If the district doesn't pay it in full, Korpan said, it could be that at some point there will no longer be a bridge there at all.
At the first budget meeting a week ago, a replacement power system in the eastern half of the Layritzhalle (455,000 euros) and the renewal of the road and sidewalk in the area of Wölflstrasse and Birkenstrasse (720,500 euros) were taken out of the budget.
At the committee meeting, Anton Demmel took a seat at the table for the first time, representing the city treasurer who was ill.

Penzberger finances: look into the million-dollar hole
An administrative template that the city of Penzberg made public this week has now revealed the entire financial problem

As of February 1st - before the first budget discussion - there was a hole of 11.3 million euros in the administrative budget for 2024.
In the asset budget, the difference between income and expenses was as much as 32.5 million euros.
That's a total of 43.8 million euros that still needs to be saved or offset by income so that the 2024 budget can be approved.
Things don't look much better in the following years up to 2027, the financial planning period.
The difference between income and expenses is minus 37.9 million euros (2025), minus 35.3 million euros (2026) and minus 28 million euros (2027).
The further ahead you look, it's always a bit like looking into the crystal ball.
But that's not the end of it.
The administrative template states that the figures do not yet take into account a deficit from 2023.
A sum of 19.2 million euros is mentioned, which must be paid in 2024 and 2025.
The template also states that the shortfall will be reduced by withdrawing from the reserve.
The amount in question is not stated in the template - only enough so that the reserve is then reduced to the basic amount prescribed by the municipal budget regulation (in the Penzberg case around 0.5 million euros).
In city council circles it is assumed that the deficit will be around 15 million euros.
