The sanction fell, brutally.

A crook – tried for 24 gang scams organized by the Fontainebleau criminal court – received four years in prison with a committal warrant, and a fine of 10,000 euros, this Monday.

Following the requisitions of Deputy Prosecutor Nathalie Giberay.

A heavy sentence that he owes to his criminal record as a repeat offender.

This 28-year-old resident of Bondy (Seine-Saint-Denis) committed no less than 24 scams throughout the Paris region, between September 2021 and June 2023. Pontault-Combault, Claye-Souilly, Bray-sur-Seine, Avon, Rubelles, Guignes or even Collégien: the young man has spread across Seine-et-Marne.

But it also caused victims in Val-d'Oise, Val-de-Marne, Hauts-de-Seine and Yvelines.

Even in Aube, Loiret, Pas-de-Calais, Eure, Aisne and Seine-Maritime.

The case started in April 2022, when the Carrefour rental company in Saint-Pierre-lès-Nemours filed a complaint with the Fontainebleau police station: it was missing a Fiat 500, rented by a customer and never returned.

The investigation is entrusted to the Departmental Security of Seine-et-Marne, which discovers the extent of the talent of the indelicate driver.

The amount of damage is estimated at 100,000 euros

Very clever, the man multiplied the scams and opened around twenty bank accounts, with stolen and then falsified papers.

He also usurped a dozen identities.

The crook increased the number of car rentals, with a strong penchant for Fiat 500s, without ever returning the small Italian city cars.

Not to mention that he also bought multimedia equipment and train tickets, to then resell them, or even spent the night in beautiful hotels.

Departmental Security investigators then estimate the amount of damage at 100,000 euros.

It was in mid-November 2023 that the police arrested the scammer, as well as two alleged accomplices, from Seine-Saint-Denis: a resident of Pavillons Sous-Bois, aged 25, and a resident of Raincy , aged 24.

The first was sentenced, Monday, by the Fontainebleau criminal court, to two years in prison, including one to be served under an electronic bracelet, and a fine of 4,000 euros.

The young woman was released.
