In 2023, the number of cities that exceeded the daily limits for PM10 fine particles decreased to 18 out of 98 monitored, with Frosinone black spot for 70 days of exceeding, followed by Turin (66) and Treviso (63).
This is stated in the "Mal'Aria di città 2024" report by Legambiente on air pollution in Italian cities.
There were 29 cities outlawed in 2022 and 31 in 2021.
Despite a reduction in smog levels, cities are struggling to improve air quality" observes the NGO. The comparison with the new targets for 2030 is worrying: 69% of cities would be outlawed for PM10 , 84% for PM2.5 and 50% for No2.
