An Argentinian was arrested accused of murdering a German businessman in Brazil
, whom he burned alive inside a house, in the spa city of Penha, in the north of the state of Santa Catarina, in the south of the country.
The attacker was identified as
Juan Ramírez
, a homeless person who was arrested last Saturday by local police.
He is accused of murdering German
Dietmar Frenkle, 64,
an industrial management consultant living in Brazil.
Witnesses cited by a Civil Police spokesperson indicated that the two argued regularly until the Argentine
locked him inside a wooden house and set it on fire.
"During the inspection we saw that the padlock was closed from the outside," explained commissioner Rafael Lorencetti at a press conference.
He said that the victim
did not show signs of violence
and that he was known for participating in social projects aimed at the population in vulnerable situations in the northern region of Santa Catarina.
Regarding the accused, he pointed out that he also caused damage to a patrol car at the police station and that he broke down when they asked him about an alleged argument he had had with the victim.
According to local media

, the Argentine was detained and transferred to the Itajaí Regional Prison, in the Canhadatuba neighborhood.
He will be charged with the crime of
"homicide qualified with cruelty"
for making it impossible for the victim to have any possibility of defending himself.
Meanwhile, the flames consumed the entire house in which Frenkle was trapped and only some structures remained standing.
