A mixed assessment.
The organizing authority for public transport in the Ile-de-France region, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), has just announced that users of no less than 15 rail routes will be able to be reimbursed
for “half a month of Navigo pass”
under punctuality results in 2023. IDFM, however, emphasizes having observed
“a first recovery since the start of 2024”
.
Among them, four axes of RER B, five axes of RER C and three axes of RER D as well as two axes of line P.
Every year since its implementation in 2021, this compensation is triggered
“in the event of punctuality less than 80% for at least 3 months, in the event of long-term strikes or exceptional disruptions”
.
This year, the president of IDFM, Valérie Pécresse, decided
to “be even more demanding”
, by compensating users living or working on a route whose annual punctuality is less than 85%.
Users of these 15 railway axes will be compensated for 2023. IDFM
Result, taking this calculation into account, 4 additional axes are concerned.
Among which, the Cergy-le-Haut-Maisons-Lafitte axis on the RER A, the Massy-Les Saules axis on the RER C, as well as the two axes Montgeron-Combs-la-Ville and Vigneux-Corbeil via the Plateau on the RER D. To be reimbursed, each user concerned will need to request it on a dedicated site which will be put online
at the end of March
.
Knowing that the amount of compensation will amount to
“between half a month of Navigo package”
and could even reach
“a month and a half for the RER B axis located between Aulnay and Mitry-Claye”
, specifies IDFM.

Late deletions taken into account
This is a big new thing this year, late cancellations - that is to say
"train cancellations the day before 5 p.m. due to lack of drivers"
- will now be
"taken into account"
, at the request of IDFM .
“Until now, these deletions did not appear in the figures communicated by the SNCF because the trains canceled the day before 5 p.m. do not appear in the SNCF systems
,” the authority defended on this subject.
However,
“certain branches which in certain months appear slightly above 80%, fall back below 80% after taking these deletions into account”
, and are therefore now
“subject to compensation”
, explains IDFM.
This is particularly the case of the RER C, whose punctuality suffered greatly from these deletions in 2023, and the P line to a lesser extent, specifies the authority, which points out that “
in December 2023, these are nearly 15% of RER C missions which were canceled due to lack of drivers
.
