Urban renovation: to denounce the demolitions, residents of Bois-l'Abbé invite themselves to the Champigny council

After the petitions, the requests for meetings with the Anru national committee, the distribution of leaflets, it is time for the rally in front of the municipal council hall of Champigny-sur-Marne.

The “committee against the destruction of the 311 social housing units in Bois-l’Abbé and for total renovation without an increase in charges or rent” met this Wednesday at 7 p.m. to make itself heard, on the sidelines of the council municipal of Champigny.

Objective: to remind elected council members of their opposition to urban renewal as the new majority negotiated with the committee.

The start of the work last summer was already marked by the arson of several construction machines on the site of the first demolitions.

“At a time when more than 5,000 applications for social housing are pending in Champigny, 2.5 million nationally, not to mention the families who sleep on the street with their children for lack of emergency accommodation, housing is being destroyed social”, storm the residents in their leaflet.

Some were also heard during the demonstration in front of the Anru headquarters this Wednesday in Pantin (Seine-Saint-Denis).

“A gentrification enterprise in Bois-l’Abbé”

Accompanied by the opposition political parties which support them, they asked to be received as a delegation by the mayor of Champigny, this Wednesday evening, to denounce what they consider to be "an enterprise of gentrification of Bois-l'Abbé with the objective to drive out the current population.

The new mayor since 2020, Laurent Jeanne (Libres!) has ensured from the start that he has reworked Anru 2 of Bois-l'Abbé, the largest priority district of the city of Val-de-Marne, to obtain maximum financial help.

The urban renovation, which extends to Champigny and Chennevières, amounts to 450 million euros.
