A 28-year-old man, recently released from prison, was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on Wednesday after two kidnapping attempts, one of which was in front of a school in La Garde, in the Var, we learned with the prosecution.
Justice has opened a judicial investigation into the counts of attempted kidnapping of a minor under 15 years old,
"acts punishable by a maximum of 30 years of criminal imprisonment"
, detailed the Toulon prosecutor, Samuel Finielz, to the press.
The man was arrested Monday after two kidnapping attempts.
A teenager then a ten year old girl
Before 8 a.m., he began following a teenage girl for several hundred meters as she tried to reach her bus stop.
But the young girl
“realized it”
and
“was able to be taken by car to school by a neighbor whom she came across by chance
,” the prosecutor explained on Tuesday.
About twenty minutes later, a 10-year-old child was waiting in front of her primary school in La Garde when an
“individual joined her, started a discussion with her and grabbed her by the arm”
.
A member of the school's educational team then intervened, causing the suspect to flee, who was arrested shortly after, again according to the same source.
The accused had already been convicted on several occasions, notably for sexual assault, but which did not target minors.
