In a recent conversation with Spiegel, ex-Trigema boss Wolfgang Grupp expressed criticism of entrepreneurs like René Benko.
The fact that he did not accept any liability for his economic actions is an absurdity.
Burladingen – Does wealth have to be limited?
Entrepreneur Wolfgang Grupp, BSW boss Sahra Wagenknecht and SPD politician Ralf Stegner recently discussed these and other questions in the
Spiegel top-level discussion
.
Among other things, it was about the distribution of wealth, wealth tax and the liability of entrepreneurs.
Grupp, who successfully ran the textile company Trigema in Burladingen ( Zollernalbkreis ) until the end, represented, as usual, a clear stance that he expressed loudly.
“I never have the feeling that anyone envies me,” explained Grupp in an interview with moderator Markus Feldenkirchen.
“Because I bear responsibility and liability for what I do.” He cited the corona pandemic as an example, in which he immediately and clearly communicated to his employees that the economic consequences were his own problem.
“At the time of the first lockdown, I told my employees that this was probably the most difficult crisis of my professional life.” Nevertheless, he emphasized that this was solely his responsibility.
“The jobs are guaranteed, the wages are guaranteed, there is no discussion.”
Wolfgang Grupp: “We need liable entrepreneurs who take responsibility”

“We need liable entrepreneurs to take responsibility for their actions,” demands Grupp.
“Then nothing will be held against them.
And then they can earn millions because they take on responsibility." But the reality is currently different - to his regret: "If in a constitutional state we allow everyone to go bankrupt and go bankrupt when things go badly.
But as long as it goes well, he gets the money – that doesn’t have to be the case!”

“When I see that bankruptcies rose by 26 percent last year and a René Benko gets 14 billion in loans and then makes one bankruptcy after another, then I understand that the rich are being hammered,” said Grupp.
“But we need responsibility and liability back!
Then everything will be fine again.”

In contrast to many other wealthy people and entrepreneurs in Baden-Württemberg, the Trigema boss is known for openly showing off his wealth.
Although his fortune, which is estimated at around 100 million euros, allows him to afford many things that the majority of Germans cannot afford, he says that he has never personally experienced any disfavor.
