But few politicians or journalists are interested in what is happening in the Canaries, another entry point to Europe.
For more than a year, the Spanish archipelago of the Canaries has seen a very sharp increase in arrivals by sea of candidates for immigration to Europe.
The Canary Islands, located off the Moroccan coast, are therefore one of the first European access points for West Africans.
By setting foot on one of the Canary Islands, Spanish and therefore European islands, migrants are, ipso facto, in Europe.
This is how the number of arrivals of irregular migrants in Spain has almost doubled in 2023 to reach the figure…
