Rain in the south-east of France.
A Mediterranean episode is planned this Friday and Saturday from the Cévennes to the Alpes-Maritimes, indicates Météo France.
This meteorological phenomenon, caused by “upwellings of hot, humid and unstable air coming from the Mediterranean”, brings “intense precipitation to the Mediterranean regions”, explains Météo France.
Seven departments in the south-east of the country including the Alpes-Maritimes are placed on yellow rain-flood vigilance from noon this Friday until 9 p.m. Saturday.
On Saturday, the coasts of Alpes-Maritimes, Var and Gard will also be placed on yellow wave-submersion alert.
According to Météo France, this “episode of strong waves” occurs “in a context of high tides (…) on the Atlantic coast”.
Wind up to 80 km/h
This Friday, the “rains concern the Mediterranean rim, increasing in the second part of the day, especially from the Cévennes in the south-east of Provence, to the Alpes-Maritimes”.
On Saturday, this Mediterranean episode continues “in the Cévennes and early in the afternoon in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region”.
Gusts reach 80 km/h.

Over the two days, cumulative rainfall “could reach 120 mm in the Ardèche Cévennes and the south-east of the PACA region”.
“Elsewhere, 5 to 10 mm should fall, locally 20 mm in the Massif Central, the Alps and the Pyrenees,” adds Météo France.
For Sunday, the wind should persist.
“A new episode of strong waves at the coast is looming on the Atlantic coast,” also adds Météo France for Sunday.
Four other departments (Loire, Rhône, Drôme and Isère) on Friday then nine in the southwest of the country on Saturday are also placed on yellow alert for the winds.
