In the Easter special of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” a candidate had to go home with 500 euros.

The viewers of the RTL quiz show sharply criticize Günther Jauch for this.

Hürth ‒ Dealing with insecure candidates is not always easy for moderator Günther Jauch on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”

After all, after 24 years as a quiz master, the 66-year-old often knows the answer himself and is not allowed to provide too much help - especially with large amounts.

Jauch didn't allow himself to be lured out of his reserve during the Easter special and received a lot of criticism on social media.

“Who wants to be a millionaire?”: Günther Jauch lets the candidate plummet to 500 euros

The starting position: Tobias Kawerau is playing for 16,000 euros and still has all four jokers in his pocket.

For the first time, the man from Mannheim is unsure about which adjectives can be found in the Duden and speculates on the wrong answer “B: unseen & unheard”.

However, the correct answer would have been “C: unmanned & unwomen”.

Jauch, who admits that he knows the solution, keeps his poker face and states that he doesn't want to "talk Kawerau in or out" of a joker.

Maybe Jauch was also unsettled because there had been a mega breakdown on the same show.

Kawerau had the 50/50 joker in mind, but rejected it and found the audience joker to be “too valuable for this question”.

Jauch, who knew Kawerau's tendencies, did not want to "recommend or not recommend" a Joker that he might "need again later."

So the wrong answer was finally logged in and 16,000 euros became just 500 euros.

“Who wants to be a millionaire?” - How many main winners have there been so far?

So far, 16 candidates have won the main prize of one million euros in Günther Jauch's hot seat.

Including three participants from the celebrity specials: Oliver Pocher, Thomas Gottschalk and Barbara Schöneberger.

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”: Did Jauch “mislead” the candidate?

“I'm going home with four jokers,” said the candidate, who was at least able to gain some sympathy points from the audience during his appearance.

They took his side and criticized Quizmaster Jauch for his failure to provide assistance.

“It’s honestly incomprehensible to me to let a candidate like that go.

And helped so much with others,” wrote one Twitter user.

A user on Facebook also wanted to express his dissatisfaction: “The last candidate should be given another chance, Jauch completely fooled him and misled him.”

Going home with four jokers and only 500 euros doesn't happen often on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”

For Tobias Kawerau, participation in the RTL quiz show ended exactly the same way.

Many viewers would have liked Jauch to have pushed more for a joker.

However, this did not happen.

Maybe the candidate felt too confident.

"He.

Had.

Still.

Four.

Joker.

And Jauch's reaction to his selection was really help enough," wrote another fan, for example. Most recently, the mother of a candidate caused the viewers of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" to freak out with a jauch dig.
