“They were going to get something to eat and they disappeared.” The mystery of a Honduran family that moved to Texas

The strange case of two fathers and their two girls who were last seen at a New Orleans bus station has taken a turn with the discovery of a bus ticket to Mexico.


Police are searching for a Honduran family of four who have been reported missing since November 30, when they left New Orleans, Louisiana, heading to Houston, Texas.

New clues, however, suggest that they could have traveled to Mexico, according to local media reports.

Relatives of the missing people reported what happened and even claimed that they received a message from them in which they claimed to have arrived in Houston, where the family was moving, but other relatives in that city stated that they never arrived.

“All subsequent attempts to contact the family have also been unsuccessful,” police added.

Farid Miranda and Dilcia Miranda, David's grandparents, told KPRC 2 that it is not normal for her to not be in constant contact with them.

“We think about her every day, every night we can't sleep thinking about her.

She is very sad

,” Farid said.

Roberto David, father of the missing woman and who took the family to the station in New Orleans, told the television station that they planned to meet in Houston with an uncle of Ruiz, who assures that they did not arrive in Texas.

The man claims he received text messages from his daughter in which she assured him that they had arrived at the Harriburg Greyhound bus station in Houston and were trying to get food.

“They were going to get something to eat and they disappeared.”

That was the last contact he had with his daughter. 

Road to Mexico

However, after finding a bus ticket showing the family left Houston for McAllen and then on to Monterrey, Mexico, relatives contacted the Honduran consulate in Houston.

The networks KPRC 2 and WDSU report having obtained said ticket.

Stephany David, Stesy's sister, told KPRC 2 that the missing people lived in Mexico for two months before moving to New Orleans and that she has no idea why they would have returned to the country.

Noticias Telemundo contacted the New Orleans police but did not receive an immediate response.

The Honduran consulate in Houston did not respond to requests for comment.
