, while the driver of the vehicle was detained, according to sources from the Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA). ).
Police spokespersons reported that the investigation was carried out by agents from Squadron 16 "Clorinda", who
obtained information that a drug shipment would be transported along national route 11
.
Based on this information, the members of the "Gendarme Fermín Rolón" Route Control, dependent on said Squadron, carried out a
special operation to detect
the drug shipment.
While carrying out surveillance,
they observed a Paraguayan flag truck driven by a citizen of the neighboring country
, which they stopped for driving in a suspicious manner.
At the time of the inspection, the gendarmes detected
anomalies in the security seals
on the merchandise attached to pallets.
Then, they proceeded to open the packages of rice transported irregularly.

with a brownish-green substance, with characteristics similar to
marijuana

Meanwhile, Criminalistics and Forensic Studies personnel carried out the Narcotest field tests, which showed positive results for "Cannabis Sativa" in a total of
2,164 kilos
.
The Court and the Federal Prosecutor's Office 1 of Formosa intervened in the case, which guided the seizure of the drugs and the arrest of the person involved, in violation of Law 23,737 on "Narcotics."

Then, the gendarmes inspected the vehicle with the anti-narcotics dog "Yana", which reacted in an exalted manner when passing by some packages that were transported on rice.
The packages were scanned and images of an organic substance were observed, so the Federal Judge of Gualeguaychú, Hernán Viri, ordered the transfer of the truck to the GNA seat to deepen the search.
It was there that they found
more than 90 packages, weighing between 10 and 12 kilograms each
, which were subjected to the Narcotest field test.
The result was positive for marijuana, with a total weight of
978.78 kilos.
